Layla Cordero is a family law attorney with compassion, ambition, and integrity. Family Law matters are inherently emotionally difficult, and Layla’s deep sense of empathy is what drove her toward family law. From the start of her legal journey in 2014, she knew that family Law was her calling and began to volunteer as a legal advocate for a rural domestic violence agency. In 2015, Layla became employed by the agency and performed family law related paralegal tasks while attending Lincoln Law School of Sacramento on weeknights. Although she worked full-time and commuted over 22 hours per week, Layla made the Dean’s List in her first year of law school. Thereafter, she obtained the Faculty Achievement Award for earning the highest grade in her Family Law course among 91 other law students.
In 2017, Layla became a Certified Law Student and began to practice family law under the supervision of the agency’s attorney. Already having experience handling divorce and custody matters, in 2019, Layla graduated from Lincoln Law School cum laude and received special recognition at graduation for her achievements. Shortly after graduation, Layla took the California State Bar Exam and passed on her first attempt. By the time she left the non-profit sector to pursue private practice, she had worked her way up to the Director of Legal Services position at the agency.
In 2020, Layla left the non-profit sector to join the distinguished and well-respected Bay Area divorce lawyer custody lawyer firm, Lee Family Law, Inc. There, she spent one year learning the ins and outs of high-asset, complex family law matters.
In 2021, Layla opened Layla Cordero Law with the hopes of returning to her roots- helping those who need help locally.
Layla’s pet peeves include sloppy work, wasting time, and getting into cars that are low on gas.
Layla is a divorce lawyer, but also a real person. She lives in rural El Dorado County with her husband and teenage daughter on a small hobby farm with alpacas, sheep, chickens, two dogs, and two cats. She has a wide range of hobbies which include gardening, ATV riding, shopping, and animal husbandry.
Additionally, Layla is an avid car enthusiast. Layla hopes to someday race (and beat) her husband on the racetrack at Sacramento Raceway Park.
